The benefits that blue spaces bring to the health and well-being of communities has been written about in an extensive article by the BBC and features the work done by researchers from the Blue Health project. The BlueHealth Project was a European research project run as part of the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme. The project investigated the relationships of climate and health to blue spaceswhether they be lakes, the sea, ponds or rivers.

The findings showed how access to these blue spaces brings positive benefits to people and communities. The Blue Profiles website is a continuation of this project as a living database by featuring designs that improve the quality of access to blue spaces. Our aim is to inspire and inform the next generation of designers and planners.
